53-55 minutes
In order for therapy to be effective and for us to work on your goals thoroughly, therapy requires a consistent frequency and commitment. I recommend weekly sessions to start.
After therapy goals have been met, we can drop in frequency over time to bi-weekly sessions as appropriate, and continue to decrease frequency as needed.
It depends on your goals, what you're working on, and how things progress over time. Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they want to work through and may only need a few months. Others might want ongoing support for deeper or more complex concerns, and they stay in therapy longer. Amanda usually works long term since her specialties require it, so the therapy process can last anywhere from 3-6 months to many years and ongoing! However, if you are looking for shorter term work I'm happy to accommodate if appropriate.
In individual therapy, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where you’re free to express your thoughts, emotions, and concerns. It’s a time for you to focus on yourself, your well-being, and what’s most important to you. You can expect to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Sessions typically last around 53-55 minutes, and what you talk about can vary depending on your goals. Some people focus on specific topics, while others explore deeper patters in their lives. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, past trauma, or just navigating life’s ups and downs, therapy will help you gain clarity and build healthier ways of coping.
In couples counseling, you can expect a supportive and safe space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together. It’s a place to be heard without judgment and to learn how to communicate more openly and effectively with each other. The first session involves meeting with all partners for the initial consultation, followed by an individual meeting with each of the partners for individual assessment, and then reconvening all together again. From time to time, Amanda may suggest meeting individually during the course of your couple’s counseling.
Amanda works with individuals ranging from preteens (12+) to adults, young adults and the elderly. In some cases, she can make exceptions for children ages 6 and up if it’s a good fit. Amanda work with individuals from all racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent communities.
That’s completely okay! You don’t have to come into therapy with everything figured out or a list of things to talk about. Sometimes, just showing up is enough. If you’re unsure where to start, I’ll help guide the conversation by asking questions, exploring what’s been on your mind, or simply checking in on how you’ve been feeling.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about creating space to process, reflect, and discover what’s important to you at your own pace. Some sessions might feel more structured, while others might be more open-ended, and that’s perfectly normal. No matter where you are in your journey, we’ll navigate it together.
