Amanda Veras MS LMHC (She/Her)
Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and Counselor
Welcome! I’m the owner of True Self Therapy PLLC and your future therapist. I’m a proud Dominican American. I’m obsessed with true crime TV, even though it frightens me. I love to explore new things, whether it's aerial yoga, learning how to make pottery, joining a kickboxing class, traveling, enjoying a good book, or getting lost in a Netflix binge.

People often ask, “Why did you decide to become a therapist?” My answer is simple: I became a therapist because at the heart of everything I do is the belief that we’re here to uplift one another and leave a positive imprint through connection, understanding, and support. That belief guides every part of my journey, both professionally and personally. Other times I’m asked, “What’s the best part of being a therapist? The most rewarding part for me is when clients, whether new or returning, share their growth and happiness, allowing me the privilege of being part of their world.

I work with people who need a space to be seen, heard, and validated. I specialize in supporting clients with anxiety, interpersonal issues, sadness, life transitions, self esteem/self-worth issues, codependency concerns, people pleasing tendencies, heartbreak, infidelity and much more. My approach is tailored to each individual's needs using psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, IFS, somatic therapy and other modalities as needed.
I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people including those of various age groups (from childhood to adulthood), and people from various backgrounds, cultures, and communities (including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities)

As your therapist, I accept you fully without judgment. I approach each person with acceptance and respect, no matter their experiences, thoughts, or feelings. I show up with compassion, honesty, and a nonjudgmental presence, offering care and clarity, in a space where you can feel safe to be fully yourself.

My role is to support you in exploring and processing life experiences, while helping you build the skills you need to navigate challenges, manage emotions, and create lasting change, all while holding you accountable along the way. I’ll highlight your strengths and I’ll also gently call you out when something isn’t serving you.
Growth often starts with a little discomfort. Take the risk, let yourself lean into that discomfort and notice what changes. Working with me means having a therapist who listens intuitively, offers guidance, and empowers YOU to trust yourself as you take intentional steps toward your full potential. Take the risk, let yourself get a little uncomfortable, and feel growth happen.

If you're ready to start therapy, I am here to support you every step of the way.

As a Latinx person who believes sexuality is fluid and who has queer loved ones, I am committed to affirming experiences of LQBTQIA+ and BIPOC persons. I continue to educate myself by acknowledging the privileges I have in certain spaces, learning from others, reading educational resources, and attending relevant CEU trainings. I encourage my clients to provide feedback and call me out if I fall short.
